I agree that if they wanted to solve the problem, Dems would've done so already. But your belief that they seek to ban guns altogether is misguided. Obama actually expanded gun rights in national parks and trains. Dems have no intention of banning guns. Me, personally, would welcome banning all assault rifles. No one needs an assault rifle to hunt deer.

Germany has a very strict gun control policy. Guns must be kept at the police department until you intend to use it, then you can check it out like a library book, where you must state your intention for using the gun and how long you will keep it. It must be returned by the due date or else police come knocking at your door. I'm not calling for that kind of gun policy in the U.S., but surely we need better than what we have now.
